In an emergency, the last thing you want to do is panic. Having some emergency supplies prepared will allow you to help your pet right away, while on the phone with your vet.

If you need to administer emergency care, always keep in mind:
-Call your vet right away. We'll be able to best guide you through the next steps.
-When in pain, pets might become aggressive. Be careful, but don't take it personally!
-Human medications can make your pet even more sick - never administer medication without your veterinarian’s say so.
-Stay calm. If you're panicking, your pet will become agitated too.

You can get a pre-made First Aid Kit on our store, or you can prepare your own.
To get started, keep the following documents in a waterproof bag, somewhere easy to reach...

-Your vet's number
-The address of the nearest emergency-veterinary clinic
-List of dog/cat normal values (respiration rate, heart rate, etc.)
-List of pet-friendly temporary evacuation centers/shelters
-Your pet's microchip ID number
-Your pet's updated vaccine records, especially proof of rabies vaccination
-A pen - to take notes when you call your vet

Then, collect the following supplies:
-A big old blanket or towel - to help move an injured pet or to protect yourself if they get aggressive
-Instant ice pack - and a towel to wrap it with
-Blunt ended scissors - safer around your pet
-Tweezers and Tick Tweezers
-Pet-safe wound disinfectant - for small cuts and scrapes
-Cotton wool pads, wound dressings and bandages
-Sterile saline solution - to clean wounds and eyes
-Vegetable oil and dish soap - to remove sticky substances
-Ear-cleaning solution
